Beyoncé is a reference and an icon of feminine strength and power. I went to see her live last week in Lisbon and I couldn´t believe that she was actually there singing and that I had the privilege to see her perform, even if miles away from the stage and with a camera crew blocking my view. Why is she so influential and loved by the public? Besides her flawless voice and figure Beyoncé is an engaging entertainer that uses her shows to send powerful messages to young woman: she can combine both Diva talent with the responsibility of being a wife and mother.
The Mrs. Cartier show is not only a spellbound visual experience it is also filled with strong political messages. Beyoncé promotes the idea that there is nothing wrong with the power of female sexuality. Songs such as Pretty Hurts reflect on the pressure woman feel to fit a mold of beauty created by the media, and Flawless celebrates female power with no apologies. "Feminist the person who believes in social, political and economic equality of the sexes" is shown in the pink letters on stage, after we listen to Ngozi Adichie Ted Talks speech about the social differences between man and woman in the XXIst century.
Beyoncé in not only a musician, her influence has risen above her talent and her message is strong and meaningful. I look up to her unapologetic embrace of sexuality, fearless strength and unlimited kindness and thankfulness towards all achievements.
