Are you aware on how do you spend your days? Scheduling your homework/work can improve your results and give you more time to invest in things you love to do. It´s all about balance: achieving good grades or excelling at work dosn´t mean compromising your social and personal interests. I want to challenge your perception of time. How long do you think you spend each day in work related activities, leasure time and taking care of your personal needs? Try this next exercise if you want to discover:

Total your minutes and hours for each day. Circle the two items that take the longest in each of the charts, Work, Leisure and Personal Needs. Are you happy with them? could they be reduced? Do the same with the shortest time items - are they adequate?
Plan for Change
What would you like your weekly planner to look like?
What needs less attention?
What needs more attention?
How would you like to spend more time?
Where would you like to spend less time?
What is missing in Work that could be there?
What is missing in Leisure that could be there?
What is the most important to you right now?
If you could do anything with no limits, what would it be?
Use your answers and choose the three activities that are the most important to you and put them in order of priority. After you have done this write them on post-its notes or post cards and then stick them where you will see them often:
1st priority:
2nd priority:
3rd priority:
Define Your Actions
To change something you must take action! Consider each of your three priorities, think about two/three actions you could take in the next week to improve matters. Then decide that you WILL take one action, time it and do it. Log all this in your agenda.
Use this schedule to plan your play time, recreation time, sport, fun, hobbies and socialising. Then highlight the times in the day you have to spend on blocks of quality work and total them at the bottom of the page. Use the schedule to create a realistic picture of time available this week, assured leisure time and rewards for periods of quality work.
