Hello everyone, we are coming to the end of 2015 and usually around this time, I make a list of resolutions for the following year. According to Time's Magazine, getting fit or losing weight are the most common and frequent topics among New year's resolution lists. So why is this? Why is it that so many of us are unhappy with our bodies? And why is it so hard to stick to a fitness routine? According to Forbes only 8% of people achieve what they set out to accomplish in the beginning of the year, so after coming across this statistics I decided to share with you 5 tips that might actually help you achieve your goals and make you part of those 8% that will finish 2016 strong:
1. Understand what went wrong - "We are how we move, We are how we eat, We are how we treat ourselves"- Tracy Anderson. It's very important to build discipline and to disconnect from our negative emotions in order to achieve results: just see things for what they really are.
Analise and ask your-self:
Analise and ask your-self:
1.1 How did I get to this point?
1.2 What are my habits?
1.3 How are they affecting my physique?
After you do this it will be much easier to understand that your weight does not define you and is only the manifestation of your habits. Now the good news! Those habits that got you the body you are not happy about can be replaced for new ones that will turn your "dream body" into a tangible reality.
2. Talk with the experts: If you want to lose a significant amount of weight please seek the help of a professional. A consultation with a Nutritionist and a Personal Trainer can do wonders for you. If you can't afford to make regular appointments just book an evaluation, you will be surprised by the impact an appointment, with a good professional, can have on your journey! He will provide you with a plan you can follow on your own, and that can save you weeks, or even years, of trying different methods, that might be good, but aren't tailored to your specific needs.
3. Stop the Gym "fear": Most people hate gym's! However when you dig into it, and I am talking from personal experience, what they hate is not the gym but how exposed they feel working out in front of strangers. If that is your case know that everyone has their own insecurities, and that if somebody is judging you, it really is their problem not yours! A gym should be a place where you go to better your self: think about it this way: "I am a work in progress". If you are going to the gym for the first time I recommend you have a look at Eat Run Lift, an amazing website with tips from professionals, that can help you figure out what type of exercises will help you achieve best results.
4. Schedule it in: "Failing to plan is planning to fail" After you have a workout and food plan to follow, its time to execute them. It's easy to get exited in the beginning of a new project, however if you want to keep that enthusiasm throughout the year I advise you to take your training "seriously" and schedule it in your agenda. In the beginning of the week take 15 minutes to decide in which days you are going to work out, for how long and what kind of exercise: by doing this it will be easier to manage your time and make sure you follow your plan. If something unexpected happens you can always work around it and organise yourself in a different way.

5. Document your process: Documenting your progress can be very motivating. If you want, try to keep an exercise/food diary where you can record how you feel and understand what works best for you. You can also take photos and measure your body every 15 days. By documenting the process you are showing yourself that all the hard work is paying off and that you are getting closer to your objective.
