Why is it important to maintain a healthy body?
- It gives you stamina
- It gives you good sustainable energy
- It helps you stay fit trim and competitive
- It makes you feel good
- Your body wants to be strong and healthy
Pointers:
-If you focus on health in an enjoyable way you will reach your goals weather it be weight-loss or getting better energy levels
- Don´t aim for perfect but take continuous action. If you fall off don´t beat yourself up just start again.
-Reward yourself with non-food fun (and have at least a day a week where a treat is included)
- Make a few changes that you stick to instead of putting breakable pressure on yourself to transform too much, too quickly. Long term sustainable changes take time to implement.
The problems with sugar:
- It's a toxin. It causes weight gain, it wears out the bodies organs, makes us more ill and for longer, it causes ageing (it dries out the skin), it also takes good nutrients; it drains the body of vitamin D and causes crazy insulin levels. It is linked with depression and causes big highs and lows. It is highly addictive similar to morphine (it triggers the same bits of the brain). Don´t go over board and beat yourself up when you divert, this is meant as a guide line so you can at least choose your toxins, I enjoy toxins but I am in charge of which one I choose because I am well informed and supplement with a mainly healthy diet.
Toxins/Clean foods:
-Dieting is a waist of time
-Clean equals Lean
-Choose clean food as much as possible - choose items that have 6 or fewer listed ingredients on the back (always read the ingredients)
-Bright food and vegetables provide antioxidants and are generally great for you.
-Toxins make our bodies cling onto fat.
The worst sugar/toxins: white sugar, alcohol, fizzy drinks, processed foods, "diet food", margarine, dressings, refined sugar, white bread, white pasta, biscuits. Stress also produces toxins especially cortisol which makes us round around the wait.
Eat properly:
- Put your cutlery down between mouthfuls
- Only swallow food when it is pasty
- Eat when you are relaxed
- Stop when you are full
- Drink water before and after
- If you are waiting to fill a gap with food take up some activity which you need your hands/brain to divert.
Above all make sure that you enjoy what you eat. Life is meant to be a joyful balance between pleasure and discipline.
